Black Writing and Thought Collection

The Black Writing and Thought collection, built as part of a collaboration between the University of Chicago and Alexander Street Press, brings together several collections of works by Black authors, including corpora of dramatic writing, fiction and folktales, and non-fiction works such as interviews, journal articles, speeches, essays, pamphlets, and letters. This compilation contains nearly 22,000 texts which date from the early 1700s to modern times.
